John Cena has been one of the most popular babyfaces in the world of professional wrestling. Beloved WWE commentator Wade Barrett recently opined that the 48-year-old should not have turned heel. The Cenation Leader embraced his dark side by taking out Cody Rhodes at WWE Elimination Chamber. Unfortunately, his heel run garnered mixed reactions from fans and analysts. Cena eventually turned babyface leading up to his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at WWE SummerSlam. In a recent interview with Metro, Wade Barrett stated that he did not like John Cena's run as the bad guy. The former Nexus leader added that it was not the right thing to do, and turning him babyface heading into The Biggest Party of the Summer was the correct move. Barrett said that the Never Seen 17 owed it to his fans to go out as the beloved babyface he has been for the majority of his career."I don’t know if he took some bad advice on the whole heel turn. I didn’t like it at all. I didn’t think it was the right move, and I think his course correct around about SummerSlam time was absolutely the right thing to do. I think he owed it to the WWE Universe and, of course, his legions of Cenation fans to close this thing out the right way and give people what they wanted from him, which is the John Cena they’ve known and loved all along," Barrett said.
