Speaking on the My World with Jeff Jarrett podcast, the legend noted that he considered The Ring General a friend but claimed that the conclusion to Cena's retirement tour left a lot to be desired.

"Where do I start? I really held out hope, not just month after month, but week after week. I really felt they're building, they're building, they're building. And then we got to the finish line. Look, I consider Gunther a buddy." He continued, "But for him to be the last match, it feels so unemotional. Oh, it's heel vs. babyface. Cena's entire career has been on the lightning rod. Let's go Cena, Cena sucks. So, to put that in equation, that to me, discounts it."
