Gunther revealed his mindset ahead of his match against John Cena at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. The veteran won the Last Time is Now Tournament to earn the right to face Cena in his retirement match this Saturday night.

The Ring General defeated LA Knight in the finals of the Last Time is Now Tournament and kicked off last night's edition of WWE RAW with a warning to Cena. He vowed to make the 48-year-old tap out in his last match at Saturday Night's Main Event. Gunther took to Instagram today to reveal his mindset ahead of his clash with The Cenation Leader.

CM Punk defeated the former leader of Imperium at SummerSlam to become the World Heavyweight Champion, but Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract minutes later to win the title.

Rollins had to relinquish the title due to injury following his victory over Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel, and CM Punk won the World Heavyweight Championship again at Saturday Night's Main Event last month. Punk is scheduled to defend the title against The Vision's Bron Breakker on the January 5, 2026, episode of RAW.

WWE icon John Cena confirms Gunther will be his final opponent

John Cena recently confirmed that he would not be returning to the ring following his match against Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event.

The legend took to social media ahead of his final match and shared that he would no longer compete after this weekend. He also thanked WWE fans for their support during his retirement tour.

"One thing has been certain for the entirety of the Last Time Is Now Farewell tour has been its finality. After Dec 13th, I will no longer compete in a @WWE ring.
