Luke Menzies, AKA former WWE Superstar Ridge Holland, has been a subject of controversy in the wrestling world in recent weeks. In mid-October, it was revealed that Menzies wouldn't be re-signed by the promotion, and Menzies later criticized WWE for a lack of support. Menzies recently began a YouTube channel, where he's giving his side to his story.Back in September, Menzies suffered a Lisfranc injury while facing Moose at a TNA taping. Weeks later, he was informed WWE would not be re-signing him. While the promotion would pay for surgery and rehab, Holland found himself without a source of income just as he began recovery. Before the injury that ended his latest run, Ridge Holland began appearing on Evolve. Despite getting major heat as a heel in NXT from his feud with Andre Chase, Holland struggled to find himself on the Tuesday night brand. After a match with Ricky Saints went south, Holland was moved to Evolve, where he said he saw the writing on the wall and took it as an opportunity to try something new."Then I found myself in Evolve, and I kind of knew that, like, my back was against the wall? I mean, I'm not stupid, I can read the room. As wrestlers, we're all kind of insecure or paranoid about losing our jobs and things like that, and I kinda knew, so I thought, you know, I need something fresh. I need to throw stuff at the wall. So that's when I came back with the tape around my head. Kinda wanted to push the Rugby gimmick, because although it had been mentioned, we'd never really capitalised on that aspect," said Menzies. Menzies' contract was terminated after releasing critical comments about the company, allegedly to send a message to the rest of the locker room.WWE cut over a dozen stars in October Menzies wasn't the only WWE name to depart last month. Starting in early October, the company either cut or opted not to re-sign 13 Superstars, including the former Ridge Holland. Fellow NXT star and one of the greatest North American Champions in the title's history, Wes Lee, kicked off the round of releases, joined by Stevie Turner, Lance Anoa'i, Jin Tala, and Drako Knox. Over the next few days, seven more names from Evolve or the WWE ID program were out, including inaugural ID Women's Champion Kylie Rae, who had to vacate the championship due to a pregnancy. Rae relinquished the belt on September 22 and revealed on October 9 that her deal would not be renewed.
