Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Baron Corbin (now known as Bishop Dyer) pitched the idea of himself entering the "Last Time is Now" tournament. The winner of the tournament will be Cena's final opponent next month, and Corbin noted that he has a lot of history with the 48-year-old.

“I had a little, like, spark in my heart, going man, how cool would it be if I was the guy who didn’t work there right now who was in the tournament? Just the opportunity to go into it. And, John and I have a ton of history, you know. From him costing me the Money in the Bank briefcase to our match at SummerSlam. We’ve wrestled a billion times and promos against each other, there’s already history," he said.

The Lone Wolf added that he also wanted the chance to battle Gunther in a match and would be fine with losing in the tournament.

Brock Lesnar's retirement date leaked? Check the details!

“Not to win the tournament. Let me go fight GUNTHER because I’ve never been in the ring with him and I think it’d be a helluva brawl. We could kick the living s**t out of each other. It would be so fun," he added. [H/T: WrestleTalk]

Baron Corbin's contract with the promotion expired in 2024, and he has remained active in the independent wrestling scene since his departure. Corbin defeated Kurt Angle in his retirement match at WWE WrestleMania 35.

Vince Russo comments on Baron Corbin's WWE exit

Wrestling legend Vince Russo recently suggested that WWE decided to part ways with Baron Corbin for an interesting reason.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws show, Russo suggested that the promotion didn't want to work with Baron Corbin anymore because he was intelligent and asked questions.

"EC3 has [also] fallen into this trap. When you get to the WWE, if they know you are smarter than them, that's not good. That's going to work against you. Corbin always came across to me as a little older, a little smarter, a little more mature. I know he was in the NFL. He'd been around the block and in my discussions, he was a very intelligent guy. They [WWE] don't like that. Intelligent people will question and seek answers and they don't like that. I thought the guy going all the way back to the first time I saw him, he had money written all over him," said Russo.
