A popular WWE star's in-ring career is far from over despite past statement. The talent in question is CJ Perry (aka Lana).
Lana had an eight-year stint in the sports entertainment juggernaut before being let go in June 2021. While the 40-year-old mostly acted as a manager for fellow stars, most notably her real-life husband, Rusev, she did perform as an in-ring competitor as well.
Lana's last match in WWE was a tag-team affair, where she partnered with Naomi to take on Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose on the May 31, 2021 edition of RAW. Sadly, Lana and Naomi ended up on the losing side.
CJ Perry made her comeback under the WWE umbrella earlier this year, after a brief run in AEW, and is currently signed to a "Legends" contract. She recently claimed that her in-ring is over, but there is a twist.

While speaking during an interview on TMZ Inside The Ring, The Ravishing Russian clarified that her retirement comments were sarcastic.
"I think when I said I retired, I was being very sarcastic. Well, because they let me go at 36, so I just claim that, apparently I retired at 36, but, you know, I think that’s really young," Perry said. [H/T: WrestlingNews.Co]
WWE 'legend' Lana makes a big admission
During the same interview, Lana admitted that her strength lies in elevating other talent, rather than as an in-ring competitor.
The Ravishing Russian highlighted how promoting stars in the correct manner is very essential when it comes to selling tickets for events.
"I would love to wrestle again, but I do believe that my money pocket, and what I add the most value to wrestling companies is talking and promoting their talent. At the end of the day, we’re in the business of promotion. And if you watch the McMahon documentary, if you watch Logan and Jake Paul talk about about boxing and wrestling, we’re in the business of selling tickets and promoting," added Perry.
With Rusev also back in WWE, it remains to be seen if Lana reunites with him on-screen once again. Could it lead to the duo competing as a team? Only team will tell.
