El Grande Americano faced former AAA Mega Champion El Hijo Del Vikingo in a singles match and emerged victorious after a gruelling bout at AAA Alianzas. However, there was one spot in the match that was legitimately concerning. Midway through their showdown, Vikingo hit Americano with a stiff Mexican Destroyer, in which the latter landed on his neck. The referee immediately went over to check on the former WWE Speed Champion, who had collapsed in the corner. Americano also looked quite shaken up after the move, and he was lucky to avoid getting seriously injured. Troy defeated Americano after the latter was prevented from cheating to win his first singles title in the company. The RAW Superstar had made his debut on the developmental brand just a week prior, defeating Josh Briggs in a singles match. El Grande Americano has been appearing on the main roster, NXT, as well as AAA, and is having an incredible run, as he is cheered by fans in Mexico despite being a heel.
