Trish Stratus returned to WWE this year by entering the 2025 Royal Rumble. She has fought two matches since then, with her latest bout against Tiffany Stratton at Evolution for the WWE Women’s Championship on July 13, 2025. Recently, the Canadian wrestler made a candid confession regarding her comeback, that she was second-guessing about her match with Stratton.
Speaking to Bill Apter on 1WrestlingVideo, Trish Stratus talked about her match against the Buff Barbie at the all-women’s premium live event. She agreed that, despite the PLE returning after seven years, it didn’t receive much promotion, which was also pointed out by the fans.
However, the seven-time former Women’s World Champion and Stratton had already been developing an internal story where they had aligned forces and kept fans guessing about who would turn on whom. Despite this, she still wasn’t sure about competing.
“Fans are like, ‘they haven't even promoted Evolution.’ I was saying the same thing. I'm like, I don't know, do people care? Luckily, Tiffany and I had a built-in storyline. Kind of had been percolating for like a year, and people were sort of seeing the friendship, but then, ooh, are they going to turn? And all that sort of thing, which was kind of fun. So I was like, I don't know, I don't really have a big storyline, and maybe I'll just do it another time." [From 5:50 - 6:12]

Trish Stratus’ uncertainty was cleared by her mom, who asked her to compete, stating that she was the OG and shouldn’t miss out on an all-women’s PLE. The match eventually happened, and while the Canadian legend put up a good fight, The Buff Barbie retained the championship.
Trish Stratus on an important lesson her mother gave her before passing
Alice Stratus, the mother of Trish Stratus, passed away in August 2025 after being diagnosed with cancer in March. To convince the Canadian Superstar not to forfeit Evolution, her mother said something that the former seven-time Women’s World Champion said has stayed with her.
“I said this in my speech, she goes, ‘do what you can while you can,’ and just equated it. She goes, look, if I had said, like, because we went, had gone to Greece the year before I took my mom, I just, we were like, let's just go. My sister lives there, we just randomly said, it was like out of nowhere, spontaneous, didn't plan it, just said, yep, look in the calendar, we're open this week, it's your birthday that week, let's go to Greece. And that was the last big trip we took, thank God, where I took my sisters, and we had that time, so, you know, do what you can while you can, because you never know what's going to happen,” she said. Trish Stratus said that she is happy that she listened to her mother, which allowed her to wrestle in front of her mother one more time before her mother's demise. Stratus highlighted that she won’t have any regrets if her match against Tiffany Stratton ends up being her final one, as it will be a good memory.
