Disappointing news for Gunther ahead of John Cena’s final WWE match

Gunther defeated LA Knight on WWE SmackDown this week to win the The Last Time is Now tournament. The Ring General won the contest after winning three back-to-back matches on RAW and SmackDown. He will now face John Cena in his retirement match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13, at the Capital One Arena, in Washington, D.C.

However, there is some bad news for the former World Heavyweight Champion before this epic clash. The WWE Universe seems to have given a thumbs down to his bout against LA Knight. The video of his final match was uploaded by WWE on its YouTube channel, and quite surprisingly, it has received more dislikes than likes.

As of this writing, the match had 13k dislikes against 10k likes. The numbers might change later, but as of now, fans have registered their displeasure by disliking the video.

The contest wasn't even a one-sided affair, but it was a neck-and-neck battle with both superstars hitting their best moves to steal the win. LA Knight survived two Clotheslines, a Powerbomb, and two Frog Splashes from Gunther.

The Megastar retaliated by hitting an Attitude Adjustment, Burning Hammer, and his signature move, Blunt Force Trauma, to neutralize Gunther. However, the Ring General had the last laugh after executing his submission lock. Knight finally tapped out after this move and lost the match.

Gunther was considered the favorite to win the match from the start of the tournament. Fans seem to have either not liked LA Knight tapping out to the Austrian Scion, or they wanted The Megastar to win the match, and face Cena at SNME.

The WWE Universe has long been backing LA Knight, cheering for him, and asking the company to push him further. However, the former United States Champion has yet to get his so-called push.

John Cena reacts to Gunther winning WWE Last Time is Now tournament

John Cena had words of praise for Gunther after The Ring General won the tournament. He took to his X account and replied to a WWE post that announced Gunther emerging as the ultimate winner of the tournament.

The Champ wrote that it will be an honor to get inside the ring with a superstar whom he has known for a long time and for whom he has so much respect. He wrote that both would try to bring out the best of themselves to win the bout.

"The stage is set for One Last Match. On a night of epic proportions, it is an honor to face off against an opponent who I respect and who has earned the right to issue this final challenge! I will bring my best, I know he will do the same! Don’t miss the Final Time!" Cena wrote.

Gunther retired Goldberg at SNME in July this year. It remains to be seen if he will be able to defeat John Cena in his retirement match, too.
