Ever since its inception in 2010, NXT has been considered the 'developmental brand' in WWE, while RAW and SmackDown have been the 'main roster' shows. A reigning champion in NXT has claimed that he wants to abolish the term 'main roster.'

NXT North American Champion and AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion Ethan Page recently joined Adam Silverstein for an interview on Getting Over: Wrestling Podcast. The former NXT Champion claimed he wanted to do away with the divide between the main roster and NXT, which is still perceived as the 'developmental' brand:

"I want to abolish the phrase main roster. I think it's demeaning. I think it actually spits in the face of what I personally, and I can only talk about me personally, what I personally have and continue to accomplish in NXT. And the word 'developmental' pi**es me off, too, because I believe, and many others do, too, that I am the best wrestler in the WWE currently. So, how on earth are there wrestlers on this so-called main roster who aren't as good as me? So maybe they need to develop. Maybe they are developmental wrestlers because they need development. I do not."

Ethan Page thinks WWE should offer fellow NXT star a 15-year contract

Ethan Page had a heated feud with fellow NXT star JeVon Evans earlier this year. The two put on an incredible set of matches, most prominently at Roadblock and Vengeance Day. Breaking character on the same podcast episode, Page praised Evans and claimed WWE should offer him a 15-year contract:

"He’s just himself. That is one thing that took me so long to figure out is essentially just be as genuine as possible. As much as I hate the kid, he is who he is; no one is going to change him. When he performs, that’s as genuine of a Je’Von as you’re going to get. He has an unlimited ceiling, and I hope the WWE has signed him to a 15-year contract."

Evans recently made his main roster debut, losing to Gunther in the first round of the Last Time is Now Tournament on RAW.
