WWE legend Bret Hart has fired shots at Hulk Hogan and called him out for his behavior during his wrestling days. While The Hulkster is considered one of the GOATs of pro wrestling by many, The Hitman heralded “Rowdy” Roddy Piper as a bigger giant instead.
Speaking about this on the Johnny I Pro Show, Hart stated that Piper was one of the few top wrestlers back in the day who willingly elevated younger wrestlers. Drawing a contrasting picture to the selfless nature of the former WWF Intercontinental Champion, Bret Hart said that legends like Jake Roberts and Hulk Hogan were very selfish.
“Roddy knew how to make a hero… Roddy was really the first guy to reach down and pull someone like me up to the next level and pass that torch. In contrast to guys like Jake Roberts and Hulk Hogan, who never passed the torch to anybody. All they did is take and take and take… two of the biggest pieces of sh*t in wrestling,” he said. The Hitman is one of the most decorated wrestlers in history. However, he gave credit to Roddy Piper, saying that the late legend gave him the biggest highlight of his career at WrestleMania VIII, where Hart won the Intercontinental Championship.
Bret Hart opened up about a real-life wrestling match with Roddy Piper
Bret Hart also shared fond memories of moments he had with Roddy Piper on the show, including a drunken wrestling match they had in real life. He recalled how neither of them gave up despite making a mess of their surroundings and causing damage to the furniture around.
“We wrestled for about 45 minutes, tipping over the beds, knocking things over… Security came in, and we were still wrestling on the rug… The bellman… finally agreed that… we would stop wrestling and fighting if he would go down and get us each one more beer.”
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Ric Flair in 2005. The Canadian wrestler was one of the most brilliant heels who inspired several wrestlers. Interestingly, CM Punk is a big fan of both Piper and Hart.
