BREAKING: WWE legend returns after 154 days for John Cena's last match

A WWE Hall of Famer has returned to the Stamford-based promotion after more than four months for John Cena's last outing inside the ring. The name in question is Trish Stratus. She was last seen inside the squared circle against Tiffany Stratton on July 13, 2025, at Evolution.

After a year-long retirement tour, John Cena is set to hang up his boots after one final match against Gunther on tonight's Saturday Night's Main Event. Many legends are expected to show up for Cena's last outing inside the ring.

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has returned to the Stamford-based promotion ahead of The GOAT's retirement match. The legend showed up during the Countdown to Saturday Night's Main Event. She was also interviewed by Byron Saxton backstage.

During the conversation, Saxton noted that Stratus has experienced retirement in her career and has returned to TV to perform at a high level. The WWE legend highlighted that John Cena's retirement tour was different than hers, as he is used to performing at a high level, calling Cena a "once in a generation superstar."

"I can't speak for John, you know, he's done it for the entire year. I sprinkled in a few times throughout the year, so there's a bit of a difference, but you know, just kind of like how he rolls. That's how he's built. He is used to run like that at that level. John Cena is a once-in-a-generation superstar, and I don't think in our life that we'll ever see anyone like that again," she said.

Trish added that she believes the choices John Cena has made during his retirement tour will ensure his legacy as a pro wrestler and contribute to the longevity of the business.

"To see him master the art of a comeback is an understatement, you know, he comes back, he satiates the fans with his presence for sure, but the choices he makes ensures his legacy, but also the longevity of the business, which I think what makes his comeback so impactful," she added.
