Oba Femi looked like he had seen a ghost at the end of NXT Deadline as a WWE star, who happens to be one of only two men to pin him, returned. The talent in question, Tony D'Angelo, was away from TV for 130 days.At NXT Deadline, the show opened with Oba Femi defeating Ricky Saints to reclaim the NXT Championship, and the end of the night saw the Men's Iron Survivor Match, where the winner was to get a shot at Femi at New Year's Evil. That match was won by Je'Von Evans, who is one of the most highly acclaimed and hyped developmental stars that fans have seen in WWE for quite a while. Although he managed to get back to that number one contender's spot, the show didn't conclude with Evans celebrating. Instead, Femi came out to stare Evans down, and then a video played showing a blurry figure walking on the side of a highway. As the arena cut to black, Je'Von Evans turned around, and it was Tony D'Angelo, who was last seen in NXT on July 29 this year. While that appeared to be the conclusion of his NXT run as he shed the last bits of his "mob boss" character, he returned and took Evans out, staring at Oba Femi, the man he defeated in 2024 to become the NXT North American Champion.Although Femi is truly the Ruler of NXT, as he has proven throughout his dominant year in 2025, Tony D'Angelo is a name that clearly came back to haunt him in that instance. Apart from Ricky Saints, only D'Angelo has toppled the dominant NXT star, and with his return, a statement has been made.Je'Von Evans will get another shot at the NXT Championship at New Year's Evil, but D'Angelo's presence adds another layer to this story.
