John Cena will be facing Gunther in his final match ever at Saturday Night's Main Event, and it is official as The Ring General won the "Last Time is Now" tournament to secure his spot.In what might be considered a somewhat predictable outcome, two-time World Heavyweight Champion Gunther returned and toppled the likes of Je'Von Evans, Carmelo Hayes, and Solo Sikoa to reach the finals of the tournament, where he was put up against a crowd favorite, LA Knight. It was clear that the crowd in Austin wanted LA Knight to succeed, and indeed, he was extremely close on several occasions in what was an instant classic. However, in a sadistic but unsurprising fashion, Gunther would dismantle LA Knight's neck throughout the match, and that strategy ultimately led to his victory. The submission hold he applied on LA Knight was very similar to Cena's STF, and he would make The Megastar tap out to secure his spot as John Cena's last-ever opponent next week in Washington D.C.In just over a week, The Ring General will attempt to retire his second legend this year. As the tweet above shows, Gunther already retired Goldberg this year, and even though it's technically Cena's retirement match, the former World Champion has no intention of going soft.He sent a message to the 17-time World Champion, telling the GOAT that he's going to make him tap out. It seems like that was a statement of intent by Gunther, who will look to be this generation's legend killer. Many anticipated a John Cena vs. Gunther match, with some, like Cena's father, hoping that it would have happened at WrestleMania 41. While WWE may not want to talk about that part of his retirement run, the fact is that it all ends next Saturday.
