Adam Pearce officially announced two matches and four superstars who will be participating in the "Last Time is Now" tournament to determine John Cena's final opponent. There was a lot of anticipation surrounding who John Cena's last opponent could be, and the former franchise player of WWE revealed on Saturday Night's Main Event that a tournament will be held to determine his final opponent, featuring stars from RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and possibly even TNA. It wasn't worded this way, but John Cena teased that there could be superstars who aren't even in WWE. The first name that came to many people's minds was Joe Hendry.Either way, Adam Pearce announced that Rusev (RAW) vs. Damian Priest (SmackDown) and Sheamus (RAW) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (SmackDown) will be the first two matches of the tournament, and they will take place in Boston next week on RAW.Adam Pearce then said that SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis will make the next set of announcements, which will presumably include a couple of matches for the November 14 episode of SmackDown. To remind you, this is a 16-man tournament. Following that announcement, only half the field will be set. However, next week on RAW, we expect Pearce to announce a couple more matches, while Aldis could do exactly the same on November 14. As for the field of announced competitors, it's certainly quite interesting. Rusev, on RAW this week, vowed to get revenge on Cena, against whom he has a 2-31 record.Damian Priest is certainly an interesting proposition, as he has had a weaker year compared to 2024. Still, his World Title reign last year is now looked back on with fondness, and fans will be happy to see him in the running as John Cena's potential last opponent. Shinsuke Nakamura and Sheamus are both old foes of Cena, and both men have defeated him.
