Becky Lynch, WWE's biggest star (people are saying it), is set to compete in a heated Women's WarGames match at Survivor Series this weekend. It's going to be a violent affair, with high-octane action that fans crave. But while most fans and wrestlers are all about the action today, The Man states it was the storytelling and promos that solidified her love of the sport.

Becky Lynch has, genuinely, earned her spot as one of the best in WWE's history, regardless of gender. Though she may not be the most athletic competitor out there, something she repeatedly admitted in her New York Times best-selling memoir, her personality has been far above most of her competition. So it's no surprise that Big Time Beck's admiration for pro wrestling came from listening to the promos of someone like WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley.

While attempting to keep her cool on First We Feast's "Heat Eaters," Lynch stated that Mick Foley's mic work hooked her more than anything else.

"I think it was the storytelling. I remember watching it when we were way younger, like, Ultimate Warrior. And then we fell out of it. And then my brother started watching it around the Attitude Era, and Mick Foley would come on and cut these promos, and I would just kind of be transfixed. It was the pagentry. It was less the wrestling in the beginning," said Lynch. [4:25-4:52]

Becky Lynch was hooked at that point, but needed to convince her parents, more so her mother, before she could chase her dream.

Becky Lynch's mom didn't originally support her WWE dream

Back in the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras, women's wrestling wasn't...exactly well-respected. If we can be honest, it was looked down upon widely by the business and fans, and really only got time and promotion if they could focus on the sex appeal of the competitors. So, for Becky Lynch, pitching her dream career to her mother was a little tough.

"My mom didn't like it. My dad was super supportive. She didn't want me wrestling because, in fairness, there was nothing that I could point at, at the time, and say, 'That's what I want to do.' When she was looking on TV, and there would be bra and panties matches and mud wrestling matches, and I'm like, 'I wanna do something like that, but not...not THAT! No, I don't want to do that," said Lynch. [4:55-5:16]

Thankfully, we've come a long way in the world of professional wrestling. Becky Lynch has made her name, not through pillow fights or pudding matches, but hard-hitting wars and interesting promos.
