WWE has been blasted for ruining John Cena's 25-year legacy by a former name. The Franchise Player wrestled his final match at Saturday Night's Main Event against Gunther. The outcome of the contest, which saw Cena tap out to the Ring General, has divided opinion.

Many fans and former wrestlers have called out the finish, saying that Cena's giving up in his last WWE match wasn't the way for him to go out. Former WWE writer Vince Russo has also questioned the logic of this booking.

Speaking on the latest edition of Coach and Bro, Russo said while Cena might have pushed for this finish, somebody in the creative team should have stepped up and turned down the idea.

"If I am in that conversation and I am listening to Cena, I am saying, 'John, I respect the sh*t out of you. We ain't doing that, John. Vince, why not? John, it's real simple. You've built a 25 year career of saying never quit, never quit, never quit.' So on your very last match, you are going to quit. Therefore, sending a message to all those kids and all the kids in Make-a-Wish that, 'Hey guys, sooner or later you're going to quit. You really want to do that, John?' No way, no way," he said.
