Aleister Black formed an alliance with his real-life wife, Zelina Vega, on WWE SmackDown earlier this month. He recently revealed a surprising truth about their onscreen pairing.On the October 10 edition of the blue brand, the former NXT Champion faced Damian Priest in a Last Man Standing Match. Zelina Vega appeared towards the end of the fight and assisted her husband in winning.In a recent interview with Rick Ucchino of Sports Illustrated, Aleister Black talked candidly about the alliance with Zelina Vega. The 40-year-old revealed in a startling way that they had started the work for their on-screen partnership prior to his exit from the wrestling promotion in 2021. He added that the first mask he wore in AEW was a part of the outfits they had started making."We started shooting little vignettes for it, and we started creating outfits for it. That first mask that I ever wore when I worked with [AEW] was actually one of the masks that was utilized. If you remember the Dark Father character that was at the end of my initial run [with WWE], that would eventually see my wife joining me... that was one of the pitches," Black said. Aleister Black reveals why Triple H went ahead with the pairing after initial lack of interestAleister Black later noted in the same interview that shortly after his WWE comeback, there were talks about his partnership with Zelina Vega. However, Triple H wasn't convinced by the concept.According to Aleister Black, The Game became interested following the successful feud between two well-known real-life couples, Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch and CM Punk & AJ Lee. He added that they started working after that, and their presentation was still being worked on as they were gradually adding more components."When I got back, the conversation arose again, and initially [Triple H] was not really into it. But I think that with the success of AJ [Lee] & CM Punk and Seth [Rollins] & Becky [Lynch], I think that he kinda went like, you know what, this might actually really, really work. He was completely sold on it and he really liked it. And then it kind of started building from there [during] those last two, three weeks. Where we're now looking at the presentation that you saw last week, and slowly but surely we're adding elements.
