AJ Lee reveals reason why she wanted to be inside WarGames

AJ Lee recently shared why she wanted to be a part of the Women's WarGames Match at WWE Survivor Series. The former Divas Champion returned to the company earlier this year and competed in her first match in over a decade at Wrestlepalooza 2025.

Speaking on the What's Your Story? podcast with Stephanie McMahon, AJ Lee hilariously noted that she is from an era of shorter women's matches but has "jumped into the deep end" since her return to WWE.

"Yes, so I figured because I was in a generation where we got like seven minutes max I thought I would just jump into the deep end and do 30-minute matches and f***ing WarGames cage matches. Gonna ease back into things," she said.

The former champion noted that one of the main reasons she returned is due to the stars in the women's division, and she is excited about working with them.

"Part of the appeal in ‘ok let’s keep doing this’ is that group of women. I’m a fan of all of them, I’ll be so happy to just be surrounded by them and get to work with them, to just kind of like hang out with them in that type of way, (of) ok trust this group. I give great credit to the women they make it very appealing," she added. [H/T: WrestleTalk]

WWE star CM Punk comments on his relationship with AJ Lee

World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk recently discussed a difficult time in his relationship with AJ Lee.

CM Punk and AJ Lee got married in 2014, but had a rough patch in their relationship after he exited WWE back in the day. Speaking with comedian Kevin Hart on the Cold as Balls show, The Second City Saint admitted that the year Lee was still in the company after he left was difficult, but it ultimately helped their relationship in the long run.

"It was difficult because when I left, she was still with the company for a year. That was a hard year for us, relationship-wise. But it made everything after that so much easier. (…) I found my person. She's 100% my partner," Punk said.

AJ Lee and CM Punk got the better of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch in a mixed tag team match at WWE Wrestlepalooza 2025. It will be fascinating to see which team emerges victorious in the Women's WarGames Match at WWE Survivor Series this weekend.
