This week’s WWE NXT episode saw a 22-year-old wrestler accidentally win her first-ever singles championship. Despite her unexpected and controversial win, the new NXT Women’s Champion chose to gloat about her victory over Blake Monroe.

Thea Hail took to X (fka Twitter) and posted a tweet, celebrating her win in response to the title change announcement made by WWE. While the Chase U wrestler is indeed the new champ, she didn’t win the match following a decisive set of moves. Rather, she landed some routine offenses, the final move being a Sprongboard Senton, to pin Blake Monroe.

Hail had been desperately gunning for the NXT Women’s North American Championship for quite some time. Last week, when Monroe issued an open challenge for the title, almost the entire women’s locker room of the developmental brand spilled into the arena.

Trying to be the early bird, Hail jumped on top of Monroe and locked her in a Kimura. The former AEW star wisely tapped out within seconds since she wasn’t ready. However, Hail thought she had Monroe defeated.

In reality, no referee was overseeing this, and no match bell was run ahead of the submission move either. Now, the Chase U wrestler has the title in her grasp, albeit not via a decisive victory. Reports claim that this has forced WWE to make several impromptu changes in its plans for the women’s division of NXT for the next two weeks.

Blake Monroe speaks up after losing her title on WWE NXT

While Thea Hail is celebrating her maiden singles title, Blake Monroe looked shocked when she lost the match she wasn’t supposed to. The former AEW star saw the referee handing her NXT Women’s North American Championship to Hail as she sat in the ring, with a lot of strength still left in her tank.

Taking to X, Blake Monroe posted a tweet, expressing her distaste for the sudden turn of events. Maintaining her heel persona, The Glamour fired a subtle shot at the management, stating that this wasn’t the first time she was strong-armed in pro wrestling.

Last week, Monroe had blamed NXT General Manager Ava for how her open challenge went, where instead of one, several wrestlers jumped her. It remains to be seen if The Glamour will win the NXT Women’s North American Championship back soon or if she will have to fight an uphill battle against Thea Hail.
