John Cena wrestled his final match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The Never Seen 17 was thanked and congratulated by several active and retired WWE wrestlers before and after his match. Interestingly, one of his rivals, Kurt Angle, was caught on camera with a weird reaction during Cena’s retirement match.A user on X (fka Twitter) posted a few shots of the six-time WWE World Champion looking at The Franchise Player. Angle’s facial expressions in the frame suggested that he was angry. Joking about it, the fan wrote that Kurt Angle could still secretly be mad at Cena for the 2005 Survivor Series.Notably, John Cena had defended the WWE Championship against Kurt Angle in the main event of the pay-per-view. By the end of the match, three referees lay knocked out in the ring, while a fourth counted the pinfall after Cena landed a decisive Attitude Adjustment on Angle.John Cena had made his WWE debut against Kurt AngleWhile the 2005 Survivor Series match is a classic, fans remember John Cena’s main roster debut on SmackDown against Kurt Angle more fondly. On the June 27, 2002, episode of SmackDown, the Olympian had called himself the poster boy of the Ruthless Aggression era and stated that he had made Hulk Hogan tap out at King of the Ring.Angle said that while the fans loved to hate him, their boos won’t matter to him anymore. The six-time World Champion issued an open challenge to anybody in the locker room who he had not wrestled before to fight him and become as great as him. Right then, John Cena walked into the ring.Angle asked Cena to name a quality he possessed that made him think that he could face the best man in the business. Cena responded by saying “Ruthless aggression” and punched the Olympian in the face, beginning his iconic WWE career. The Franchise Player lost his debut match, just like his final one, but he became The Never Seen 17 in between.
