This year's Survivor Series marked the end of an era, with John Cena dropping the WWE Intercontinental Championship in his last-ever premium live event match. Another former Intercontinental Champion also confirmed that he won't be stepping back into the ring.
WWE commentator and former five-time Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett was once again on commentary duty with Michael Cole. The duo, as usual, did an exceptional job calling the four matches on the show.
During the broadcast, Barrett confirmed that he wouldn't step into the ring for another match, let alone step inside the gruesome WarGames structure.
Barrett was released by WWE in 2016. Following his exit, he revealed that he chose not to sign a new contract with the company. The former Nexus leader decided to work in non-wrestling roles before returning to the Stamford-based company in 2020 under NXT, where he became a commentator for the brand.

Wade Barrett was burnt out while being on the road for WWE
Wade Barrett once opened up about his WWE exit, saying that he felt "burnt out" while being on the road.
Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, the former Intercontinental Champion discussed his hectic travel schedule. Barrett disclosed how he was often disappointed whenever he was handed the script for a show. He said:
"I was kind of burnt out on the road as [Jericho] said. I mean, when you start on the road, everything's new and everything's fresh. You don't care that you're not home 275 nights a year, and you're constantly exhausted, and beat up, and even if you've got bad booking or something like that, it's all fine because you're living this amazing experience. After I had been up there for several years, I kind of got to the point where even the little things were irritating me, and the travel was really killing me, and I'd get to the arena, and it seemed that every RAW and every SmackDown, every Monday and Tuesday, I'd get to the arena and be so disappointed when the script for the show came out."
Barrett is working on Monday Night RAW, alongside Michael Cole.
