A 38-year-old star has been tipped to replace Randy Orton. The Viper has been absent from WWE TV for the past few months. This has led to fans speculating about his future in the Stamford-based promotion.
While it is possible that Orton makes his return as we head into the new year, tag team legend Bully Ray has tipped former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther to eventually replace him in the role of the legend killer.
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray talked about the Ring General being John Cena's final opponent. He mentioned that the match on Saturday is a chance for WWE to further elevate the 38-year-old star and position him as the modern-day legend killer going forward.
"So Gunther retires AJ Styles, Gunther retires Jericho, Gunther retires John Cena, Gunther retired Goldberg. He turns into the modern-day legend killer. And oh, by the way, that worked for one other guy also," he said. [H/T WrestlingInc.com]

The other guy Bully is referring to is none other than Randy Orton. After joining Evolution, Orton faced and defeated a number of legends early in his career, earning the nickname of Legend Killer.
Gunther has already retired Goldberg and is set to face Cena in his retirement match. With the retirement of AJ Styles and possibly Chris Jericho also on the horizon, the former NXT champion can really be booked to become the modern-day legend killer, replacing Orton.
Gunther has beaten Randy Orton in WWE
Among the many accolades Gunther has to his name, he has also beaten Randy Orton in a high-stakes match in WWE.
The two stars faced off against each other in the finals of the 2024 King of the Ring tournament. The match in Saudi Arabia saw the Ring General prevail to take the crown and earn a World Championship opportunity.
They faced each other again at Bash in Berlin last year, with Gunther successfully defending his World Heavyweight Title against Orton.
