Jacob Fatu was last seen in WWE on the October 17 episode of SmackDown. He had a No. 1 Contender's match against Drew McIntyre in the main event. However, minutes before his entry, the Samoan Werewolf was severely assaulted by an unknown person.

Although the needle of suspicion fell on Drew McIntyre, and even the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, it hasn't yet been revealed who that mystery attacker could be. But this injury angle was kayfabe.

In reality, Jacob Fatu was taken off TV due to a non-wrestling injury. It was later revealed that he had some dental issues, because of which he needed some time off. According to a recent report by PWInsider, Fatu has recovered and is all set to make a return to WWE.

The company can now move ahead with revealing the mystery attacker on SmackDown. However, the former WWE United States Champion might not return alone.

Randy Orton could return on the same night, along with Jacob Fatu

Randy Orton has also not been around for the past few weeks. The last time he was seen on SmackDown was on October 3, when he teamed up with Cody Rhodes to square off against The Vision in a losing bout. Since then, he hasn't been seen. Surprisingly, he also missed this year's Survivor Series.

However, he could return this week on SmackDown, along with Jacob Fatu, and reveal himself as the mystery attacker. This would lead to a heel turn for Randy Orton, which has been expected for a while.

Fans would initially be perplexed by Orton assaulting Fatu. However, The Viper could justify this by revealing that he did so because Jacob had jumped the line to get a title shot against Cody Rhodes, while he felt he deserved the title shot against The American Nightmare. Fans could then witness the typical heel Orton, who would resort to any measure to get what he wants.

Randy Orton and Jacob Fatu can clash at WWE SNME this month

If The Viper turns heel and reveals himself as Jacob Fatu's attacker, the two can clash at SNME this month. It will be Randy Orton's first match as a heel in the past two years.

In fact, as a heel, Randy Orton draws more heat, and his popularity spikes. He has been a babyface for the past two years, and it won't be wrong to say that the current character isn't doing him any good. Rather, he has lost matches on the trot, which wouldn't have been the case if he were a heel.

Randy Orton might target Cody Rhodes after beating Jacob Fatu

The fans have long been demanding a compelling storyline between a heel Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes with the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line.

Orton and Cody Rhodes have clashed only once in the past two years, and that too in a non-title match in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament in July this year. Even though the company has been teasing Orton's heel turn with The Viper on numerous occasions, having been caught staring at Cody's title, it hasn't yet pulled the trigger.

Orton and Cody Rhodes have a long history in the company. Cody Rhodes started his WWE innings under the tutelage of Orton in 2008, and was there with him for almost two years, along with Ted DiBiase Jr.

Cody left the promotion in 2016 and returned fully revamped in 2022. Orton remained with WWE, and once The American Nightmare returned, fans eagerly waited for his clash with Orton. But that hasn't taken place till now.

Maybe the company will launch this storyline now, with the two legends clashing at WrestleMania 42 next year.
