The upcoming edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event will be a special one for several reasons. Either Gunther or LA Knight will have the honor of standing across the ring from John Cena in his last match ever.

The undercard will consist of several NXT vs. Main Roster exhibition matches. By cramming Deadline in right after Gold Rush, those matches are yet to be announced.

Since the specialty event is the final big show of the year, several things could happen. Here are some early predictions for what could take place at Saturday Night's Main Event XLII.

#5. Several past WWE Legends appear

Since Saturday Night's Main Event will celebrate Cena's final match, it stands to reason that many names from his past will appear.

He's already faced rivals like Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Cody Rhodes, and CM Punk. Expect more names from his past to show up at Saturday Night's Main Event.

Mark Henry, Kurt Angle, JBL, Ric Flair, and RVD crossed paths with the 17-time Champion during his illustrious career. Several will appear throughout the night or all at once to praise Cena.

#4. At least two NXT stars beat main-roster performers

As mentioned previously, the other matches at Saturday Night's Main Event will pit main-roster stars against NXT performers. The night is supposed to be about the future of the industry, even if Cena's opponent is closer to 40 than 30.

Stars like Sheamus, Natalya, The Miz, Sami Zayn, and Finn Balor have done more than their fair share of putting others over.

Officials will want a few prospects to look extremely good against their main-roster counterparts. Booking a few to win will also prove that the future is in good hands.

#3. Vince McMahon returns at Saturday Night's Main Event

Without Vince McMahon, WWE and the wrestling industry as a whole would not be where it is today. He had a stranglehold on the business for a few decades.

One of those decades saw the never-ending pushes of a guy named John Cena. It turned so many fans off that they started to boo the company's top face.

McMahon left the company after the TKO merger. Since he had such an impact on the industry and on Cena's career, he could easily show up for a big segment or as part of the final celebration.

#2. John Cena wins his final match

John Cena lost his final match on a WWE PLE to Dominik Mysterio. It was a quick swap of the Intercontinental title back to Dirty Dom.

If Cena really wants to pay it forward, he'll put over whomever he faces at Saturday Night's Main Event. The issue, however, is that bookers may resist the urge and have the 17-time Champion lose his final match.

He could feasibly defeat LA Knight, but shouldn't beat Gunther. Whoever wins the Last Time is Now Tournament may fall to Cena.

#1. John Cena is added to the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026

The Undertaker announced Stephanie McMahon as the first inductee of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026 back at Wrestlepalooza in September.

Cena may feel it's too soon, as stars in the NFL often have to wait five years after retirement before officially eligible. WWE operates on its own time and under its own rules.

Someone like Vince McMahon or even Stephanie could announce him as the second member and headliner of the 2026 Hall of Fame Class.
