The finals of WWE's Last Time is Now Tournament were set after the latest episode of RAW. LA Knight defeated Jey Uso while Gunther dispatched Solo Sikoa.

The Megastar and The Ring General will face off on SmackDown for the right to oppose John Cena in his final match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13th.

Gunther is a former World Champion and the favorite to win the whole thing. While he may still claim victory, Knight should beat him for the next four reasons.

10 Shocking Injuries That Destroyed WWE Stars - Watch Here!

#4. Gunther already won a tournament

While WWE doesn't have as many round robins as AEW, it has at least one every year with the annual King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments.

Gunther won King of the Ring in 2024, defeating Randy Orton in the finals. He used that win to dethrone Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.

Having The Ring General win another tournament would be similar to how Jey Uso won two battle royals (one for a spot in a title match and the Royal Rumble) this year.

#3. John Cena doesn’t have to lose his final match against someone like LA Knight

John Cena has traded wins and losses on PLEs ever since SummerSlam. He lost to Cody Rhodes at The Biggest Party of the Summer before beating Logan Paul at Clash in Paris.

Brock Lesnar decimated him at Wrestlepalooza, but the 17-time Champ bested AJ Styles at Crown Jewel: Perth. His last PLE match was a loss to Dominik Mysterio at WarGames.

If that holds, he'll probably win his final match. Against someone like Gunther, it would be hard to digest due to The Ring General's machine-like performances. Knight is a different competitor, but wouldn't lose luster if he lost to Cena.

#2. Gunther has already retired a WWE legend in Goldberg

Another reason why Knight should defeat Gunther involves a different WWE Legend. The Ring General faced Goldberg at Saturday Night's Main Event in July. It was the former NFL player's final match, and he lost to the younger Gunther.

Unless he's starting another version of his gimmick, that would be two Legends retired by the Austrian star this year. One star shouldn't have the same honor twice, unless it's veterans of lesser status.

Having the GOAT fall to the former World Heavyweight Champion would help Gunther's aura, but he's already had the honor of ending one legendary star's career.

#1. LA Knight is a bigger star than Gunther

While Gunther has a major title under his belt, LA Knight is simply a bigger star than him. The Megastar is one of WWE's most popular performers. He is met with a raucous reaction every time he enters.

Ad

Some fans find Gunther a bit boring due to his methodical and physical style. Knight is loud, brash, unapologetic, and cuts some of the better promos.

He should have won a major title already, but officials have held off to push other stars or because they think he's so over it won't hurt if he loses.
