The card for WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2025 is set, with the premium live event set to air from San Diego, CA, this weekend.

The event will feature the men's and women's WarGames matches, alongside John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship and Stephanie Vaquer vs. Nikki Bella for the Women's World Championship.

While the match card is stacked from top to bottom, there are a few other matches that could have made the cut. In this listicle, we will take a look at four other matches that could have been booked for the show.

4. Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio

John Cena's last match opening SNME - Check out Why!

A few weeks ago, Dominik Mysterio was confronted by his father, who made his return after a lengthy spell away due to injury. At the time, it seemed like they would be feuding again and potentially having a match in their shared hometown of San Diego at Survivor Series.

It would have been a great way to rekindle their rivalry, while also allowing Dominik to showcase his new, developed heel side against arguably the biggest fan-favorite wrestler of all-time.

3. Team Sami Zayn vs. The MFTs - Survivor Series elimination match

Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rey Fenix, and the Motor City Machine Guns have been feuding for weeks. They will finally settle their differences in a traditional five-on-five elimination Survivor Series match on SmackDown before the premium live event.

Having a 'Survivor Series' match before the event itself just doesn't feel right, and WWE should have saved it for the premium live event. Under Triple H, Survivor Series matches have been completely replaced by WarGames, and it would have been a nice callback to have the old format return.

2. John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio

While having John Cena face Dominik Mysterio is a great call by WWE, considering the youngster will probably defeat the legend, it could have gone another way.

The Franchise Player has only faced Rey Mysterio two times in one-on-one matches, with the last time being a WWE Championship match on RAW in 2011. On the night, Cena defeated Mysterio to win the title on the same night the latter had won it.

The company could have revisited this story, and Cena could have faced the Master of the 619 in his hometown. The two could have even had the Intercontinental Championship to feud over, possibly culminating in Mysterio finally getting revenge for Cena prematurely ending his only run with the WWE Championship.

1. Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre - This time with Drew winning

Rhodes and McIntyre have been at odds for months, with the Scottish Warrior failing to dethrone The American Nightmare two times, albeit in controversial fashion. The two could have had their third and final clash at Survivor Series instead of getting included in the WarGames match, this time with Drew McIntyre finally getting the win.

WWE has seemingly taken the wind out of McIntyre's sails by having him lose so frequently in major title matches. Having him dethrone Rhodes for the WWE Title would have finally restored his credibility, while giving Rhodes a break from programming.
