4 Matches John Cena should’ve had at WWE Survivor Series instead of Dominik Mysterio

In his final appearance on WWE RAW, John Cena was challenged by Dominik Mysterio to a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames. The Judgment Day member will face the Never Seen 17 in his final match at a premium live event.

While Dirty Dom is a great contender to face Cena, considering how highly the company rates him and the fact that Survivor Series is in his hometown, things could have been booked differently as well. Which other matches could John Cena have had in his last-ever match at Survivor Series? Here are four different matches the legend could have had instead of a title match with Dominik Mysterio.

4. WarGames Match

Despite an incredible two-decade-long career, John Cena has never been in a WarGames Match. This year's edition will feature Team Vision battling the reunited Bloodline of Roman Reigns and The Usos with CM Punk and Cody Rhodes.

Cena could have potentially replaced Rhodes in the WarGames match, revisiting his feud with Brock Lesnar from earlier this year and potentially avenging his massive loss against The Beast Incarnate.

3. Singles match against Drew McIntyre

Although he has been involved in several high-profile feuds for the last year, Drew McIntyre has lost credibility, given how many defeats he has had to endure. The Scottish Warrior could have been a great opponent for John Cena, since he is the kind of arrogant heel that the Franchise Player works best against.

McIntyre is not even part of the Last Time is Now Tournament and will not face Cena before his retirement. It seems like a huge missed opportunity, since the two former WWE Champions could have had an incredible battle not only in the ring but also on the mic.

2. Singles match against Rey Mysterio

The last time John Cena faced Rey Mysterio, he defeated the Ultimate Underdog for the WWE Championship on the same night Mysterio won it. Fans of Mysterio haven't forgotten that night even after all these years, and it would be a great story to tell if Cena were to face Mysterio in his hometown one last time.

Perhaps the Master of the 619 could finally get revenge on Cena for ending his only WWE Championship reign in just a few hours.

1. Singles match against Bron Breakker

Since reverting to a babyface and losing the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, Cena has been vocal about his desire to put the spotlight on the next generation of WWE Superstars. RAW's Bron Breakker is being pushed as one of the biggest new stars in the company.

But, while his Vision teammate, Bronson Reed, is part of the Last Time is Now Tournament, he is not. Breakker has no spots left to face the Never Seen 17, and could have used a win over the legend to gain more credibility.

Since Breakker is being pushed as a major contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, a win over the 17-time world champion would have given him an immediate boost, putting him in a great spot to dethrone CM Punk to win the big gold belt.
