With only two more appearances left before the end of his retirement tour, The Franchise Player's reign as the IC Champion will likely be short-lived. Now that he's a Grand Slam Champion, Cena could drop the title back to "Dirty" Dom at the San Diego event.

However, the bout may not see a clean ending, as Dominik's ally, El Grande Americano, could distract Cena, allowing the young Mysterio to regain the title. The masked superstar has forged an interesting partnership with the AAA Mega Champion lately.

The 35-year-old has become a trusted ally of Mysterio, helping him whenever needed. The Judgment Day has taken issue with Dominik taking help outside the faction, but "Dirty" Dom has prioritized winning matches over his stablemates.

Moreover, since there is a 16-man tournament taking place to determine John Cena's final opponent at Saturday Night's Main Event XLII, it would not be wise to have him lose clean at Survivor Series: WarGames. Superstars usually lose their last match, and if that is supposed to be the case with John Cena, he shouldn't lose his match against Dominik, unless there are shenanigans involved.

Therefore, having El Grande Americano cost Cena the bout would protect The Last Real Champion's credibility for his final match. That said, while it is possible, this scenario is only speculative at this point.

"I'm not going out on my own terms. If I could do this in infinity, I would do it… I made a promise to the fan base when I started that when I got a step slower, I gotta walk away," he said. (H/T: WrestlePurists)

John Cena will hang up his wrestling boots on December 13. He will face the winner of the Last Time is Now Tournament in his final match. It will certainly be a bittersweet moment for fans to see the GOAT walk off into the sunset.
