The former WWE Champion John Cena faced almost every archrival and major superstar on the roster during his retirement tour. However, he did not face Roman Reigns despite the Original Tribal Chief being active and competing at a few PLEs this year.
While the Stamford-based promotion or anyone did not issue any statement regarding the same, in this article, we will explore three possible reasons why John Cena did not face the OTC during his retirement tour.

#3. Roman Reigns is on a part-time WWE run
Since losing his title to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion has been on a part-time run and has barely made six to seven appearances so far this year.
Moreover, the OTC and Cenation Leader are both major attractions, and since they have limited dates, the Triple H-led creative team may have chosen to keep them apart to boost fan interest by using other stars with them instead of having them face each other.
#2. The Samoan icon is already involved in a long-term feud
The leader of the OG Bloodline has been involved in a rivalry with The Vision faction for a while. They have been going back and forth against each other since WrestleMania 41.
Therefore, putting Roman Reigns in a match against the Chain Gang Soldier while he is already involved in another rivalry would have made no sense, which might be another reason why they didn't compete during John Cena's retirement tour.
#1. The Tribal Chief didn't need a win over John Cena
John Cena and Roman Reigns locked horns in 2021, which wasn't a long time ago. Meanwhile, the Cenation Leader has faced WWE rivals whom he hasn't seen for a long time, or upcoming stars such as Logan Paul and Dominik Mysterio.
Also, unlike Logan and Dominik, Reigns does not need a win over the Chain Gang Soldier, as he is arguably among the all-time greats in the realm of professional wrestling.
