3 burning questions after WWE Saturday Night's Main Event

WWE Saturday Night's Main Event XLII is over. John Cena tasted defeat in his final match against Gunther and retired after thanking the WWE Universe. The entire locker room was out there to pay their final respect to Cena.

Apart from Cena's match, Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi also had a good match, but it ended via DQ after Drew McIntyre caused outside intervention. In the next match, NXT superstar Sol Ruca surprisingly registered a win over former women's champion, Bayley. And then in the third match of the night, Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee won against Je'Von Evans and Leon Slater.

#3 What's next between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre?

Drew McIntyre disrupted the match between Oba Femi and Cody Rhodes. Even though it was expected that McIntyre could cause a spoiler, it wasn't anticipated that the match would end in a DQ. McIntyre was expected to secretly take out Cody, which would have given an outside chance to Oba Femi to score a gigantic victory over the Undisputed WWE Champion.

However, it turned out the other way round. Cody and Oba Femi teamed up to beat up McIntyre instead. While Cody Rhodes gave his signature, Cody Cutter, Oba Femi followed it up with a powerful Chokeslam.

It now remains to be seen how the company books the story between Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes. The Scottish Warrior has already had two title matches against Cody Rhodes: one at Wrestlepalooza and the other at SNME last month.

In both matches, the Scottish Warrior has ended up getting beaten, but he has been booked against Cody Rhodes only. No other superstar in WWE has had two back-to-back title matches against The American Nightmare. It will be interesting to see whether the company wants to book another title match between the two at the Royal Rumble PLE next year, or if there will be some other superstar going after Cody Rhodes' Undisputed Championship.

#2 Where's Vince McMahon and The Rock?

There were strong speculations of the return of former WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon, and The Rock at SNME. However, neither of the two showed up on Cena's last day in the company.

It was quite surprising because WWE showed Vince McMahon in a tribute video to John Cena. If the Janel Grant lawsuit was a roadblock in getting Vince McMahon back to WWE, why did the company have his clip in the tribute video? If any reference to Vince McMahon could have given a business loss to the promotion, why was he there in the clip?

Similarly, it's beyond comprehension why The Rock didn't show up at Cena's last day in the company. He was instrumental in leading to Cena's heel turn. However, after Elimination Chamber, he disappeared. Moreover, he broke his character and wished John Cena in a video, before SNME.

If WWE seriously had no plans for The Rock and John Cena after Elimination Chamber, then why was he part of the storyline at first? It appears that the company has left The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and John Cena's storyline unfinished at some point.

#1 Why did John Cena tap out in his WWE retirement match?

The biggest question of the WWE fans after SNME is: Why did John Cena tap out to Gunther? The 17-time Champion had this impressive record of not tapping out to any wrestler in the past 21 years. Ever since Cena took the heroic character in 2005-- the one who never gives up-- he hasn't lost a match by tapping out.

However, WWE made a terrible booking by breaking this 21-year record of Cena, and making him lose by tapping out. The fans in the arena went berserk after Cena tapped out, and they started booing Triple H when he came out along with Stephanie McMahon to pay final respects to Cena.

Hunter, in the post-match show, defended the booking by saying that just like John Cena, he will also do what's best for the business. However, the fans aren't buying Triple H's argument. On the internet, the fans are criticising this booking by the company.

This will be a red flag for the creative team in the future. This backlash can snowball into something bigger in the future, and it can impact the company's business. So far, Cena hasn't replied to this booking. It remains to be seen what the 17-time Champion has to say about it.
