Survivor Series is fast approaching, and fans are getting excited. The event will see Dominik Mysterio run it back with John Cena for the Intercontinental Championship. That said, it seems a 28-year-old star might help Dirty Dom beat The Franchise Player at the upcoming premium live event.

Dominik Mysterio won the Intercontinental Title earlier this year at WrestleMania 41 and successfully defended it against several top superstars on WWE RAW. However, he finally lost the title to John Cena during the latter's penultimate Monday Night RAW appearance. Despite the loss, the younger Mysterio didn't back down and was able to secure himself a rematch against Cena for this Saturday in San Diego.

That said, in a jaw-dropping twist, the 28-year-old El Hijo del Vikingo might make a shocking WWE appearance during the title match to help Dominik Mysterio beat the GOAT and become a double champion again.

John Cena's last match opening SNME - Check out Why!

Many believe that the sole reason why the company booked The Last Real Champion to capture the IC Title was to enable him to attain the status of a Grand Slam Champion. As a result, he's likely to drop the belt back to the former title-holder now that the goal has been achieved.

Accordingly, the creative team might consider executing this storyline in an unusual way to enable The Cenation Leader to still look strong, despite a defeat, going into his last match. This could involve booking Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide star El Hijo del Vikingo to interfere and help Dominik Mysterio emerge victorious.

Vikingo embraced his sinister side at Héroes Inmortales on October 25 by displaying a cocky attitude and berating the audience before being interrupted by El Grande Americano. At AAA Alianza, Vikingo attacked Dragon Lee, cementing his heel turn.

For those who do not know, it was 'Dirty' Dom who dethroned the Mexican star at World's Collide to capture the AAA Mega Championship. Having finally embraced his dark side, Vikingo might decide to work together with Mysterio in AAA.

While this angle is far-fetched, it is not impossible, and viewers will have to wait until Survivor Series to see if this comes to fruition.

Rey Mysterio could challenge Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship

If the above scenario plays out, Rey Mysterio might challenge Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship after his son potentially dethrones John Cena at Survivor Series.

The WWE Hall of Famer has maintained the onscreen bad blood between him and Dominik after returning to the squared circle. He had been away from in-ring action since sustaining a legitimate injury in a match on the final episode of SmackDown ahead of WrestleMania 41.

Given that Rey has been in a program with 'Dirty' Dom since his return, he might finally challenge his son to a title match after Dominik potentially regains the Intercontinental Championship this Saturday.

However, this angle is also speculative, and only time will tell if things play out as above.
