Sophie Cunningham tried to recruit Caitlin Clark to Project B

Sophie Cunningham was the most recent name to add to the list of WNBA players joining Project B's inaugural season next year. The upcoming league has already signed some big names, including Kamilla Cardoso, Cunningham's Fever teammate, Kelsey Mitchell and Alyssa Thomas.

If Project B had been able to sign Caitlin Clark, it would have helped the league make fortunes. Despite a mouth-watering salary, Clark doesn't seem to have any interest in joining the new league, and Cunningham confirmed it.

On her "Show Me Something" podcast, the Fever player told West Wilson that he had tried to recruit Clark to Project B.

"I tried to get her to play in this, and she's like "Noooo,"" Cunningham said with a big laugh.

However, Sophie Cunningham admitted that despite being rivaled by new leagues, it was impossible to replace the WNBA.

"At the end of the day, if you don't have the W, you don't have the platform. So you don't have the eyes, you don't have the recognition," she added.

The arrival of Project B on the scene amid the troubled Collective Bargaining Agreement has the potential to pose a big threat to W. However, the new league offering salaries north of $2 million, WNBA's biggest stars like Clark, A'ja Wilson and Napheesa Collier haven't shown interest in signing with Project B.
