Seattle Storm vs Las Vegas Aces Player Stats and Box Score for Game 1 (Sept. 14)

In a one-sided showing, the Las Vegas Aces crushed the Seattle Storm, 102-77, in Game 1 of their first-round series Sunday, moving within one win of the WNBA semifinals while carrying their scorching streak into the postseason.

The No. 2 seed Aces, who entered the playoffs as the hottest team in the league with 16 straight victories, stretched their run to 17 by overpowering the No. 7 Storm.

A’ja Wilson dominated with 29 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks in 30 minutes. Jackie Young added 18 points, seven assists and five boards, while Jewell Loyd and Dana Evans chipped in 14 and 13, respectively, off the bench.

NaLyssa Smith controlled the paint with 11 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, as the Aces shot 50.7 percent overall and 48.3 percent from long range to secure the lopsided win.

Seattle struggled through a disastrous first half but found some rhythm after the break, though the deficit was too much to erase. Gabby Williams led the Storm with 16 points, while Skylar Diggins and rookie Dominique Malonga finished with 12 apiece.

Seattle Storm vs Las Vegas Aces: Game recap

Las Vegas opened on fire with a 15-5 burst, closing the first quarter ahead 22-12.

In the second frame, the Aces clamped down defensively, holding Seattle to just 13 points while nearly doubling the margin for a 45-25 halftime cushion.

Wilson was in MVP form with 16 points before the break, while Smith asserted herself inside with eight points and six rebounds.

For Seattle, Nneka Ogwumike scored nine and Erica Wheeler had eight, but starters Ezi Magbegor, Brittney Sykes and Diggins were shut out in the opening half.

The Storm rediscovered their offense in the third quarter, but Las Vegas stayed aggressive, winning the period 31-27. The fourth was closer, but the Aces still edged it 26-25 to seal the victory.

Despite the blowout score, the team stats looked more even: the Aces narrowly won the battle of the boards (39-35), assists (23-15), fastbreak points (15-14) and points off turnovers (21-12). But the real difference came in shot-making, where Las Vegas was far more efficient.
