Seattle Storm vs Las Vegas Aces player stats and box score (Aug. 8) | 2025 WNBA Season

The Las Vegas Aces held off a late surge from the Seattle Storm to break a tie and secure the No. 6 seed with a 90-86 win Friday in a matchup between teams with identical records.

Seattle mounted a strong second-half push, outscoring Las Vegas 50-43, but the Aces held firm down the stretch to close it out.

A’ja Wilson delivered an MVP-caliber outing with 29 points and 12 rebounds, while Jackie Young added 26 points and five assists.

NaLyssa Smith posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, Chelsea Gray contributed 13 points and five assists, and Jewell Loyd chipped in 10 in a balanced Aces attack.

The Aces shot efficiently, hitting 44.9% of their shots and 45.5% from beyond the arc.

The Storm’s fight was led by rookie Dominique Malonga, who finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Erica Wheeler added 16 points, Gabby Williams scored 14, and Nneka Ogwumike had 12 points and nine boards.

Brittney Sykes, making her Storm debut, came off the bench to post 14 points and six assists for Seattle, whose reserves outscored the Aces’ bench 38-12.

The win marked the Aces’ third straight victory, while the Storm dropped their fourth in a row.

Seattle Storm vs Las Vegas Aces: Game recap

Las Vegas set the tone early, fueled by nine first-quarter points from A’ja Wilson, and built a 23-17 lead after the opening frame.

Seattle found more rhythm in the second quarter, but the Aces maintained their pace and even outscored them again, 21-19, to take a 47-36 advantage into halftime.

Wilson tallied 18 points and five rebounds in the first half, while Chelsea Gray added 10 points, finishing the half with three free throws. For the Storm, Nneka Ogwumike, Erica Wheeler and Ezi Magbegor each scored eight.

At the break, the Aces were shooting 48.8% compared to just 38.2% for the Storm.

The Storm entered the second half energized, cutting what was once a 19-point deficit down to eight by the end of the third as Wheeler and Malonga connected on key shots.

Malonga’s and-one tied the game at 75 midway through the fourth, but the Aces closed strong, with Young knocking down three jumpers to seal the win.
