Angel Reese supporters targeted a Caitlin Clark fan after the latter accused the Chicago Sky star of buying fake views for her podcast episodes. On Friday, a fan shared a screenshot of the viewership spike on Reese's "Unapologetically Angel" YouTube channel.
The fan claimed to have studied the video-sharing platform and accused the Sky star of abnormally increasing the views on her podcast episodes.
"Having studied YouTube analytics for the past 9 years, I can say with 100% certainty she’s either botting views or purchasing views via YouTube advertising. Viewership on her recent clips supports that as well," the fan wrote.
Angel Reese fans did not receive the comment in good faith, as they jumped into the post's comment section to defend their favorite player.
"yall are so stupid 😭😭 it’s getting so pathetic," one fan commented.
"You should probably do a bit (or ALOT) more studying," another fan said.
"Studied YouTube or watching YouTube for 9 years," another fan said.
One fan called out the alleged inaccuracy of the original claim.
"Here you go, bro, those are shorts 🤣🤣🤣here are the real numbers bro🤦🏾♀️" the fan commented.
"Of course it's a cc fan, gtfo man," another fan said.
"The jealous in CC fans need to be studied 😂😂😂😂😂 now she’s botting 🤦🏻♀️ I thought you’ll were watching golf ⛳️ what happened? Now we monitoring Angel’s numbers 😂😂😂😂😭😭😭🤭🤭🤭🤭" another fan said.
Angel Reese started her podcast in August 2024. Since then, her YouTube channel has garnered over 150,000 subscribers and amassed more than 12 million views, with 784 video uploads, including YouTube shorts.
"It always gets flipped": Angel Reese on dealing with the media
Angel Reese expressed concerns about dealing with the media on the Oct. 17th episode of her podcast. The Chicago Sky star said that she would rather pay a fine than speak to the press.
"Even before a game, I'm terrified of what the media is about to ask. It's could be the nicest question but it's going to get flipped," Reese said. "I'll take the fine. I rather would take the fine sometimes than talk to the media becasue it always gets flipped." (Timestamp: 0:05)
Later, the Sky star admitted to being scared of the media and revealed that she is terrified of doing interviews. She said that there are only a handful of people in the media industry who make her feel comfortable enough to open up and express her thoughts.
