Is Angel Reese Leaving Chicago Sky After Turbulent Season? Superstar Forward Gives Crystal Clear Response

After a turbulent season, fans have been speculating about Angel Reese’s future with the Chicago Sky. The 2025 season was nothing short of a disaster for Chicago as the team tied the Dallas Wings for the joint worst record in the league, finishing 10-34.

To make matters worse, the season ended with friction between the franchise and its star player. In September, the Sky took disciplinary action against Reese after her comments to the Chicago Tribune were deemed “detrimental” to the team.

Ever since, there has been much discussion regarding her future with the Sky. But Reese has put the rumors to rest with a statement given to reporter Sara Jane Gamelli on Friday.

“I’m under contract. I plan on returning to the Sky, continuing to talk to Tyler, and building that relationship with Jeff and Tyler,” Reese said when asked about her future in Chicago.

The Sky’s poor performance last season was despite Angel Reese’s stellar play. She averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Her performance on both ends of the floor saw her earn much praise from both fans and peers.

Angel Reese outlines expectations from Team USA training camp

Angel Reese joined Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers and her fellow WNBA stars at Duke University for Team USA’s training camp from Dec. 12 to 14.

While speaking to reporters, Reese outlined her expectations from the camp, calling it her offseason:

“I'm here to work. I mean, this is my offseason, what my offseason is looking like for this year. So I want to play for the USA team, and just continue to build by resumé, learn a lot here, and soak it all in. Just have fun."

Reese’s season ended with her being sidelined due to a recurring back injury that saw her miss 14 games last season. The Sky forward has yet to sign any deals for the summer after turning down the opportunity to play in Unrivaled’s second season.

So for Reese, the Team USA training camp just might provide the highest level of basketball she gets to experience this summer. Chicago fans will rest easy after learning the franchise’s cornerstone plans on sticking around.
