This is the second time in back-to-back years that Caitlin Clark got the invitation to show her talent at the tournament. Last year, Clark's presence garnered a record viewership. She was also joined by Kai Trump, the granddaughter of US President Donald Trump. Clark played alongside defending champion Nelly Korda at the event.

Cunningham is looking for a long-term deal with a team, keeping in mind her plans, which include buying a home. Hull is a restricted free agent, which means the Fever only have to match the rival offer to keep her.
