Angel Reese made headlines last month after she walked in the 2025 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Reese joined Sunisa Lee as the first two athletes to model at the event, but it didn't stop fans from trolling her online. Her former teammate, Kysre Gondrezick, defended her and herself for breaking female athlete stereotypes.
Speaking on the "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast with Carmelo Anthony, Gondrezick discussed Reese's ventures outside of basketball during the offseason. The Chicago Sky star has been busy off the court, prompting some fans to call her out for not working on her game.
Gondrezick, who recently made the cover of Playboy magazine, defended their decision to be more than just an athlete.
"We're in a position now where we're being offered the same resources and opportunities as our male counterparts," Gondrezick said. "That's uncomfortable, I think, for people because of the new time that we're in. ... While Angel has done Victoria's Secret, and I can't speak upon her, but as I have done Playboy, and I'm sure that she can relate, or anyone else that is breaking barriers.

The former WNBA player added:
"We're still learning who we are as well. We're still learning how to break barriers and become comfortable with everything that comes with it. If we were to sit here and listen to what people tell us what we should do, we wouldn't be able to break these barriers. So just finding the balance in that, and I'm gonna keep continuing to do so."
Angel Reese and Kysre Gondrezick were teammates with the Chicago Sky during the 2024 WNBA season. Reese is still with the Sky, but her future remains murky after a public spat with the franchise turned ugly immediately.
Gondrezick, on the other hand, wasn't on a roster last season and has seemingly focused on modeling. She's set to play in the 2026 Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball season and will look to get a roster spot in the WNBA next year.
Angel Reese sends message to fans after living her dream
Angel Reese didn't just realize her dream after walking in the 2025 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Reese told US Weekly how she's hoping to inspire girls not to be afraid of pursuing things all at once when they grow up.
"I know a lot of people are gonna be watching today, and hopefully, young girls today get inspiration that they can do these same things," Reese said.
While she's busy with off-court stuff, Reese continues to work on her game. She also recently got called up by Team USA for an upcoming training camp.
