WNBA star Angel Reese, reportedly dating Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr., watched the Magic’s showdown on Friday against the Detroit Pistons. She saw Carter and Co. survive a thrilling clash to win 112-109 and eliminate their opponents from the NBA Cup. The victory gave the Magic the No. 1 seed in the East and a date in December with the Miami Heat in the knockout stage.

Reese tweeted minutes after the Magic eked out a win:

“idc idc play the songgggg.”

Reese wanted the Magic to keep their trend of playing a theme song after every win. She wanted to hear “Orlando Magic, Orlando Magic, Orlando Magic, oh, oh, oh, ohhhhh, oh” to celebrate the well-deserved win.

As if there was any doubt, the Magic obliged. Like always, they started with a teaser:

“You guys wanna hear the song?”

On cue, the team’s social media account dropped the song.

ESPN reported that the Orlando Magic have been celebrating every win with the song since 2023. The catchy sound, though, has been around since 1989, a reason why it has a feel and vibe of that era.

While some have criticized both the Magic and the song, Angel Reese couldn’t care less.

Wendell Carter Jr. wore Angel Reese’s “Mebounds” sneakers against Pistons

Wendell Carter Jr. showed up for the WNBA All-Star game in July wearing a shirt with Angel Reese’s face printed on it. He also considers the Chicago Sky star his favorite player. The Orlando Magic center, on the “Run It Back” show about a week ago, said that the two-time WNBA All-Star is “my girl.”

In return, Reese has attended some of Carter’s home games this season. She has also been quite active in reacting to some of his highlight plays.

On Friday, it was Wendell Carter Jr.’s turn to show support for Angel Reese. He wore Reese’s “Mebounds” Reebok shoes for the crucial game against the Detroit Pistons.

Carter did not disappoint. He contributed eight points, 11 rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal. The big man’s plus-7 net rating was the best among the starters. He stood out with his footwear and play that helped the Magic punch a ticket to the knockout stage of the NBA Cup.
