NBA commissioner Adam Silver has a message for people who still don't believe in Caitlin Clark and her popularity. Silver dropped a truth bomb about the Indiana Fever that some fans might not agree with. Clark is coming off an injury-plagued campaign, playing in just 13 out of the 44 games. Speaking on FanDuel Sports Network - Indiana, Silver discussed the popularity of Clark and her impact on women's basketball. The commissioner was in awe of the growth of the sport, as well as the reach that the Iowa Hawkeye legend has outside of Indiana. "To see the popularity of Caitlin (Clark), to see the Fever exploding in popularity — not just here in Indianapolis, Indiana, but globally — it's remarkable," Silver said, according to Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files. There's no denying that Caitlin Clark has been one of the faces of women's basketball over the past three years. Clark has helped transform the WNBA into a must-watch league, though some Indiana Fever fans are frustrated with the league. They believe that the WNBA hasn't done a good job at promoting Clark and marketing the league in general. She remains popular based on the Golf Channel choosing to show her recent appearance at The ANNIKA pro-am golf tournament to expand their reach. Nevertheless, Clark needs to stay healthy and be on the court if she wants to further her brand. She missed the majority of last season due to four muscle-related injuries, so the Fever might need to improve their training and medical department. Clark went four spots up despite not seeing plenty of time on the court, which again shows her growing star power. She reportedly earned around $16 million, mainly from her sponsorship deals with many major brands. Clark's WNBA salary and bonus only contributed $119,000, so the league is still miles away from being a real money maker. She's also the only athlete on the list who plays on a team, since tennis players dominated. There were 10 tennis players, led by Coco Gauff, who also topped the list at $23 million.Other athletes on the list are golfers Nelly Korda and Jeeno Thitikul, gymnast Simone Biles and freestyle skier Eileen Gu.
