Cunningham, who set career highs in both field-goal percentage and 3-point shooting with the Indiana Fever during the 2025 season, took a lighthearted approach while updating fans on how she has been spending her offseason.

In a video recorded from her car, she said:

“In case you're wondering, which I know you're not, but I'm just going to throw it out there. … (If you’re) wondering why I look like I just got out of a swimming pool, I just did hot yoga for the first time. Oh my gosh. Actually, I think I'm still in a workout.”

“That gave me nothing. Sorry that was pointless to everybody, but oh my gosh, I've never done that before, and I look like an idiot because I don't know the flow yet, but I'm about to be a damn yogi.”

Cunningham served as a reliable reserve for the Fever throughout their injury-riddled 2025 season before suffering a torn right MCL in August.

Will Sophie Cunningham re-sign with the Indiana Fever?

The Indiana Fever are in the middle of a critical offseason, with several key players who complement Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston hitting free agency. That group includes All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell, along with steady contributors Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull.

Fever general manager Amber Cox has emphasized that re-signing Mitchell is the organization’s top priority. And while Cunningham has indicated she would like to return to Indiana, potential obstacles remain.

One concern is uncertainty surrounding the 2026 WNBA season amid stalled collective bargaining agreement negotiations, along with the looming expansion draft tied to the additions of the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo.

ESPN’s Kevin Pelton projected that the Fever would protect Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, Lexie Hull, Kelsey Mitchell and Makayla Timpson in the expansion draft, which could leave Cunningham exposed to being selected by an expansion team that might designate her as a core player.

Sophie Cunningham previously acknowledged this offseason that the Fever are aiming to keep their core intact, but she noted that outside financial offers could complicate those plans. If the league does move forward, she emphasized the importance of maintaining health.

“(If) people want to come back, we’re trying to keep our core together,” she told Front Office Sports. “But, you know, when money is waved in people’s faces, you just never know. And so, if we do, I think that we just have to stay healthy. We have to keep building, day by day. And I think we have a good shot.”

Sophie Cunningham has also been linked to Project B, an offseason league expected to feature 66 players in a traveling, tournament-style format that reportedly offers compensation exceeding both the WNBA and Unrivaled, along with equity opportunities for participating players.
