On November 16, 2025, Twitch streamer QTCinderella went live and announced the nominees for The Streamer Awards 2025. Over 35 categories, including "Best Just Chatting Streamer," "Best VTuber," and the staple, "Streamer of the Year," were presented, featuring some of the industry's most popular creators (including FaZe Clan's Jasontheween, who was nominated for the Streamer of the Year award).

Jason was placed amongst his fellow contemporaries, including IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat, who have both had successful years on the internet. Additionally, the FaZe member was nominated for "Best Just Chatting Streamer," and the clip used to announce his nomination led to significant backlash against QTCinderella and the Streamer Awards as a whole.

For context, in early 2025, Jasontheween would often collaborate with social media influencer Shizuku, and, at the time, the streamer's fanbase pushed for the two to become a couple. However, their relationship did not seem to work out, and months later, Sakura Shymko announced her relationship with Jason after the two had multiple viral on-stream collaborations in mid-2025.

Part of the backlash against the awards started after Jason's "Best Just Chatting Streamer" nomination clip featured him and Shizuku together, immediately followed by a clip of him and Sakura. Jason initially responded, saying:

"Are you deada** QT? I got a whole girlfriend. What the actual f**k? Who put these clips together, bro?"

QT later responded to the backlash in an emotional stream and said:

"You're so f**king mad about one clip. You know what? Maybe he shouldn't have got the f**king nomination then? Don't support my f**king show then. Don't vote for him. Like, we're doing our best over here. We're genuinely doing our best...."

xQc, Adin Ross, and Asmongold criticize The Streamer Awards and QTCinderella

Asmon called out QT for "lying" and claimed that she was personally involved in altering the nominations to keep the show "brand-friendly" for sponsors:

"You're lying... I think that you have exercised editorial control, and you have picked the nominees, not completely from fan voting, but from your own opinions, and to keep the show brand-friendly."

After noticing Vanillamace's nomination for "Best Breakout Streamer," Felix "xQc" shared a take claiming that the Streamer Awards were biased, especially because of the recent drama between Vanillamace and QTCinderella.

"[Vanillamace]... is not even close to being on the scale of this category... QT had some drama with her, so she probably thought, 'Yo, Imma put her in this category, and maybe the bridge will rebuild..."

Kick's Adin Ross also chimed in, suggesting that the awards were not "fan-voted":

"It's not fan-voted, don't say that dumba** sh*t, because there’s people that are ‘fan voted’ I’ve never even heard of... It's not fan-voted."

In other news, political commentator HasanAbi recently spoke on not being nominated for the Streamer Awards, especially because he felt like 2025 was the most "impactful" year of streaming for him.
