Popular Twitch streamer and Chess personality Andrea Botez has revealed that she has lost hearing in her left ear and has a "1/3 chance" of fully recovering. On December 4, 2025, the content creator took to X to update the online community about her health.

According to her, the loss of hearing in her left ear was caused by an "unknown" situation. She also advised fans to take "hearing protection seriously."

Andrea Botez says she "practically can't hear any high frequencies"

On the same day (December 4, 2025), Andrea Botez posted a video on YouTube titled I lost my hearing...:(. At the four-minute mark, the Twitch streamer shared details about her hearing test after being unable to hear from her left ear, stating that she "practically can't hear any high frequencies."

Botez elaborated:

"So, I get my hearing tests, go over the results with my cousin, and I practically can't hear any high frequencies. So, my hearing is not completely gone, but a big chunk of it is. And I spend all day on the phone, calling my healthcare, trying to get me into an emergency ENT. The day before Thanksgiving, I am able to get a slot, which ironically was booked for two weeks ahead. So, I call my healthcare, and I push, and I say, 'This is urgent, I'm in a short time frame. I'm already a week late into my treatment, by the way, having not been on steroids for a week,' when you're supposed to act within 72 hours, if it is sudden sensory hearing loss."

At the eight-minute mark of the video, Andrea Botez speculated on what could have caused the loss of hearing in her left ear, stating that she "wasn't always safe wearing earplugs" when she attended rave parties.

Furthermore, the 23-year-old said that she "loved to stand right by the speakers" at the events, adding that she "wanted to feel the bass in her bones."
