Linus Sebastian, creator of the popular YouTube tech channel Linus Tech Tips, has revealed that the channel has earned more than $26 million on the platform through AdSense. Jon Youshaei recently interviewed Sebastian for his YouTube video titled, He Made $26M on YouTube...But Nearly Lost It All (Linus Tech Tips Interview).
At the four-minute mark, Linus Sebastian offered Jon Youshaei to take a look at his YouTube Studio analytics dashboard.
Providing details of the lifetime channel analytics for the Linus Tech Tips channel, Youshaei stated:
"Wow! Okay, so this is your lifetime views? Can I read this off? Nine billion views. And you could see that it's gone up, like, kind of started to hit a high during Covid. But you actually have a huge peak recently. That's interesting to see. You hit 8.4 million views in a day. Yeah, so maybe filter out the Shorts, so we see the long-form. Can I see what revenue looked like during that time? So, you made over $26.3 million dollars?"
The Canadian personality responded, saying that he individually did not make over $26 million through ads on the Linus Tech Tips YouTube channel, but that Linus Media Group, Inc. did:
"I haven't. Linus Media Group, Inc. has done $26 million in revenue through YouTube AdSense. Yeah. I mean, we have a lot of expenses. Linus Media Group has paid more than $26 million in salaries."

Linus Sebastian gives a revenue breakdown for the Linus Tech Tips YouTube channel
At the 31-minute mark of the video mentioned above, Linus Sebastian and Jon Youshaei displayed a pie chart showing the revenue breakdown for the Linus Tech Tips YouTube channel.
The following information was mentioned in the graph:
- YouTube Adsense - 11.6%
- Fully Branded Videos - 12.5%
- Products - 55.4%
- Other - 1.1%
- Affiliate - 3%
- Memberships (FloatPlane) - 7.2%
- Sponsorships - 9.2%
Providing context for the revenue stream statistics, Sebastian stated:
"You break this revenue down, and you look at it in terms of like, 'Okay, how profitable is it? How predictable is it?' FoaltPlane, for instance, is only 7.2% of our revenue; that's our membership. But that's a subscription. That's recurring. Those are from our incredible, like, shout out my Floaters, those are from our incredible supporters who are giving us anywhere from $3 to $10 a month to, you know, sometimes behind the scenes or early access, just to support the channel. And we have over 40,000 of them right now. And they're awesome, and I can count on that."

Linus Sebastian then explained why he could "count on" YouTube AdSense revenue "to a degree":
"YouTube AdSense, I can count on that to a degree, but it's more volatile. If we have a rough month for uploads, AdSense goes way down. And then if we have a really great month, AdSense goes way up. FloatPlane doesn't have that. It never has a spike, but it never really has a big dip. It's been pretty consistent growth overall."
