Every major filming location where The Last Frontier season 1 was shot

Every step is a ticking bomb of danger in The Last Frontier season 1. Frank's attempts to save his town from the escaped inmates further reveal bigger conspiracies behind the plane crash. With his personal life at stake, there is a lot on the line for the protagonist in the series. While major events of the show take place in Alaska, the series was shot in different locations in Québec and Alberta, Canada.
Here's all you need to know about the filming locations of The Last Frontier season 1:
1) Québec, Canada
As Québec was one of the primary filming locations for the show, Montreal became a prominent site featured in the series. MELS Studio in Montreal was used for filming elaborate sequences, such as the plane crash and interior shots of the aircraft.
Québec City became a significant backdrop that doubled as Alaska in The Last Frontier season 1. The location matched the wild elements, snowy landscapes, and cold weather of Alaska, making it an apt choice for the plot. Tax incentives and local support further made it a prominent addition to the series' filming locations.
Laurentides was another place in Québec that served as a filming location for the show. Places from the region, such as Arundel, Harrington, Rivington, Lac-Supérieur, Val-Morin, and Oka, were incorporated into different scenes of Apple TV+'s series.
Works like Catch Me If You Can (2002), The Terminal (2004), The Notebook (2004), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016), and more were filmed in Québec, Canada.
2) Alberta, Canada
After the crew captured several pivotal moments of the series in Québec province, the team headed to Alberta for filming other important scenes from The Last Frontier season 1. Exterior scenes for the crash were filmed in Kananaskis Country, specifically in the Fortress Mountain area. Snow-covered residential areas of Calgary also became the backdrop for several developments in the show.
The global audience has been treated to the picturesque landscapes of Alberta in films and series such as Inception (2010), Fargo (2014-2024), Interstellar (2014), Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein (2025), The Last of Us (2023-), and others.
