With the help of two amateur by capable sleuths, Colter is able to ID the kidnapper, who turns out to be a serial killer with an eccentric kink of watching his victims die. He finds him from the angel wings he draws at the crime scenes.

However, Margot is not the only one the serial killer is after. While he does plan to kill her, not before he uses Margot to get to the other two guys who may know about his crimes—the two guys who have been working with Colter on the kidnapping case.

While investigating Margot's disappearance in Tracker season 3 episode 6, Colter finds the small angel wings at the Hardens' house, the last cleaning job Margot did before she was kidnapped. Gunther, one of the two guys Colter is working with on the case, thinks he's seen the drawing before. Gunther is correct because he finds the same angel wings in the crime scene of the Appelbaums' murder.

Like the Hardens, the Applebaums' deaths were ruled out as accidental. It was also a dual death, with one family member disabled and the other one their caretaker. Gunther does a little research, and so does Randy. Gunther finds similar cases, and Randy finds out the common ground between them. All families were clients of Voorhees Physical Therapy Center.

It's where things get into a standstill after the center's employee refuses to divulge any information. But after seeing the same angel wings in a flyer about another duo who died, Colter asks who made the flyer, and he was given the caretaker's name, Francis. He sneaks into the employee's computer and finds Francis' information. From there, the mystery quickly unravels.

It turns out that Francis is a serial killer and has been targeting families and causing multiple dual caregiver and patient deaths in the region. It's a fairly long list, but no one has noticed his modus operandi until Margot. Also, when Colter visits Francis in his house, he's no longer there, but a decades-old crime scene is—Francis's mom and brother with special needs, his first victims.

The end of Tracker season 3 episode 6 reveals that Francis isn't only targeting Margot because she has found out about his crimes. He's also using her to connect with the two people Margot is affiliated with because of their shared fascination with true crime, her friends Gunther and Eddie.

The realization that Margot is still alive after visiting Francis's house prompts Colter to embark on a race against time. He believes that Francis is using her to gain access to Gunther's place, also known as the office where they conduct all their sleuthing. It's exactly what happens, and Colter arrives in Gunther's building to find Margot tied inside Francis's car.

Meanwhile, Francis has made his way inside the building and is trying to suffocate both Eddie and Gunther. Thankfully, Colter Shaw arrives just in time to save them, but not before putting his life on the line as Francis tries to choke him to death. But Colter gets hold of a scissor, and he stabs Francis to get away. Everyone is safe, and Francis lives, but he's also going behind bars for a very long time.

While Colter insists that he works alone, Gunther and Eddie present their case, arguing that they know Margot better. They become an odd trio investigating the case in Tracker season 3 episode 6. And while they are amateurs, they are also very capable when it comes to true crime.

At the Harden house, Eddie figures out that someone was hiding in the hiding spot at the time of Nancy Harden's death based on the larvae of the leftover food. He's a whiz at crime scene timelines and a "self-taught" entomologist. Meanwhile, Gunther identifies the angel wings drawing from the previous crime scene photos he has in his collection.
