The Last Frontier season 1 episode 9 ending explained: Does Bradford find Sidney?

Sidney Scofield goes on the run in The Last Frontier season 1 episode 9, and Jacqueline Bradford is pulling all the stops to hunt her. Titled Converge, the latest installment in the Apple TV series brings one of the action-filled episodes yet, as Sidney fends off Bradford's men left and right.

With both Frank Remnick and Bradford looking for her, Sidney finds herself in a perilous position. Bradford does end up finding Sidney, where the latter supposedly plans to upload Archive 6 at the end of the episode, but things are not what they seem.

While episode 8 starts connecting the dots about Sidney's background and plan, Sidney and Bradford's face-off at the end of The Last Frontier season 1 episode 9 unearths another layer of her motive, and it includes Havlock.

Does Bradford find Sidney in The Last Frontier season 1 episode 9, or is it part of a bigger con?

Bradford and her goons intercept Sidney at the Nenana Hydroelectric Dam in Healy at the end of The Last Frontier season 1 episode 9. After learning that Sidney has gotten off the train at the station in Healy, Bradford figures out that she's going to the next best place where she can transmit the archive. With all her resources, Bradford gets there before Sidney even arrives.

However, while Bradford may think she wins, Sidney's reaction to being intercepted suggests otherwise. Turns out that she expected Bradford and her men to be there. Frank's realization en route explains part of Sidney's plan; she wasn't trying to escape throughout the episode. Instead, she was giving clues about her whereabouts, like the 911 call she made, because she wants to be followed.

Not only that, but it looks like Havlock, who arrives at the dam shortly after Sidney, is also in play. Cutting off Bradford's monologue about the fact that she would always find her, Sidney tells her that she knew Bradford would find her. In fact, she said, she and Havlock made sure that Bradford would.

It means that at one point between the episode 8 car crash and episode 9, Sidney and Havlock devised a plan to lure Bradford. However, The Last Frontier season 1 episode 9 ends before they can reveal why.

Frank Remnick and Jacques Bradford have the same goal in episode 9, which is to find Sidney. However, they are doing it for different reasons, and it's why Frank isn't helping Bradford's agenda. He also knows about Archive 6 and its significance, which means he is aware of Bradford's kill list and the crimes she's committing.

There's no love lost between Frank and Bradford, and he makes it clear that he's not working with her. He's also challenging her power, refusing to surrender Havlock and Thiago. So, while both are looking for Sidney, Frank is determined to reach Sidney first before Bradford can. But as seen at the end of the episode, Bradford gets to her first, but it's Frank who realizes Sidney's ulterior motive.

Is Bradford's plan in The Last Frontier season 1 episode 9 to kill Sidney?

Converge kicks off with Sidney Scofield's escape and Jacques Bradford's arrival in Fairbanks to look for her. But, she's not only looking to arrest Sidney. She's there to tie up loose ends, and that means killing Sidney. After learning that Havlock made a hard copy of Archive 6 and Sidney could be in possession of it, Bradford's order is to "terminate with extreme prejudice."

In other words, the plan is to murder or assassinate Sidney, to eliminate her with no chance of survival or escape. Bradford also has the manpower and firepower to accomplish the directive. However, as seen at the end of The Last Frontier season 1 episode 9, it appears that she has fallen into Sidney's trap without even realizing it was happening.
