Created by Thomas Brandon, The Copenhagen Test is a science fiction thriller series set to premiere on Peacock on December 27, 2025. The series will consist of eight episodes. The high-tech spy thriller revolves around Alexander Hale, a first-generation Chinese-American intelligence operative.
Hale has the perfect career, or so it seems. He runs operations for a shadowy agency with an unbelievably high success rate. However, things take a turn when he discovers that his brain has been hacked, and the intelligence operative's situation takes a turn for the worse.
Thus, over the course of the eight episodes, Hale’s life turns upside down as he is caught between his agency and the unknown hackers who now have access to everything he can see, hear, and do. As the series progresses, his suspicions intensify, leading to his actions spiraling out of control as he attempts to uncover the identity of those behind this.

Simu Liu as Alexander Hale
Simu Liu stars as Alexander Hale in The Copenhagen Test. He is a first-generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst and agent whose life is turned upside down. Hale has the perfect life at the start of the series, but he soon discovers that an unknown group of hackers has hacked his brain. His confusion soon turns into paranoia, and he suspects everybody, including those from his own agency.
Liu is a Chinese-Canadian actor and producer who made his acting debut in 2012. He got his big break in the television series Kim’s Convenience (2016-2021). He later appeared in a bigger role in the Marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in 2021. He also starred in The Simpsons, Fresh Off the Boat, Laid, Invincible, Jackpot!, and several other productions over the years.
Melissa Barrera as Michelle
Melissa Barrera portrays Michelle in The Copenhagen Test season 1. Although not much is known about her role, it is hinted that Michelle is a deceptive character whose true intentions remain shrouded in mystery, even after she becomes entangled with the protagonist, Alexander Hale. Like Hale, she seems to be some kind of intelligence operative, throwing punches and dodging blows in the trailer.
Barrera is a Mexican actress, singer, producer, and activist who began her career playing roles in Mexican telenovelas Siempre tuya Acapulco (2013) and Tanto Amor (2015). She eventually made her way into Hollywood, making her debut in the comedy/drama series Vida. She also starred in Scream IV, Abigail, Keep Breathing, and several other productions.
Sinclair Daniel as Parker
Sinclair Daniel portrays Parker, a junior analyst thrust into a complicated situation in The Copenhagen Test season 1. Her initial job is only to observe Alexander Hale’s assignment, but things soon become overly complicated after an unknown group hacks into Hale’s brain.
His actions, combined with other factors, soon lead Parker to question where her loyalties lie and whether she’s becoming too emotionally invested in Hale’s life.
Daniel is an emerging actress who made her debut in 2019, starring in an episode of Madam Secretary. Following that, she appeared in The Good Fight, Insidious: The Red Door (2023), The Other Black Girl, and several other projects.
Brian d’Arcy James as John Moira
Brian d’Arcy James stars as John Moira, who is an intelligence director in The Copenhagen Test season 1. His life is turned upside down after Alexander Hale’s brain is hacked. While he has no clue what has happened, all he knows is that his top analyst’s actions are compromised by something. Once he finds out, the security breach turns into a complication that forces him to question everything he knows.
James is best known for his roles as Shrek in Shrek the Musical, King George III in Hamilton, and several other plays. He has earned five Tony Award nominations and is also recognized for his roles in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, Manhunt: Unabomber, Evil, and Love & Death.

The Copenhagen Test revolves around Alexander Hale, a Chinese-American whose life becomes a complicated mess after he discovers that his brain has been hacked. It means that the intelligence analyst’s perfect career is thrown to the wolves, as this gives the unknown group of hackers complete access to everything he sees and hears.
This leads to massive complications as his intelligence agency finds out. Hale is now forced to perform an act 24/7 as he’s caught between his own agency and the mysterious hackers in an attempt to prove where his loyalties lie.
As the series unfolds, things become even more complicated when Michelle enters the picture. And it is soon revealed that she is also part of the agency, sent to keep an eye on Hale. Despite the mounting pressure, Hale attempts to navigate a tough landscape with his allies few and far between, and his agency also not completely on his side, all the while trying to regain control of his own mind.
