St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6 ending explained: Is Matt married?

St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6, titled I Left a Woman on the Table, begins with a mysterious woman searching for her husband. The person shockingly turns out to be Matt, much to the surprise of most of the hospital staff. While that is the main focus, Joyce and Bruce get up to their own shenanigans, with the latter even finding a new friend in Chaplin Steve.

Episode 6 kicks off with Alex treating a woman who has severe abdominal pain, although the main reason she’s at the hospital is to look for her husband, who works there. The staff is then stunned when she points to Matt and refers to him as her husband, as it is something he never mentioned.

However, Matt reveals that he and Violet are no longer married, as they technically divorced when he attended nursing school. They separated because their community didn’t believe in medicine. So when Matt left to study, it marked the end of their marriage.

By the end of St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6, Violet accepts that Matt has found a new family in the people at St. Denis and leaves without him.

Matt and Serena’s will-they-won't-they dance continues in St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6

Ever since St. Denis Medical premiered, Matt and Serena have had a will-they-won’t-they dance going on with him. Matt even admits to having a big crush on her. While Serena hasn’t returned the feelings, the two remain good friends as the dance trots on. This continues in St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6 when Violet arrives on the scene and claims that Matt is her husband.

He confirms the news, much to the surprise of the staff, especially Serena and Ron, although Matt reveals that he and Violet are no longer married. They got divorced after he left to pursue a career in medicine and become a nurse, something that their community didn’t approve of.

However, over the course of St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6, Matt shows a different side as Serena watches him romance another woman in front of her.

Although his feelings no longer exist, he pretends to be romantic to persuade Violet to stay at the hospital and undergo tests to ensure she receives the necessary care. This situation challenges Serena emotionally, especially when Violet and Matt share a passionate kiss at the end of St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6, testing whether there are any residual feelings.

In the end, the two agree that there is no spark left, and Violet leaves after acknowledging that Matt’s life is now at St. Denis.

Joyce’s determination is impressive, even with Val and Alex trying to stop her

While St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6 focuses on Matt, his ex-wife Violet, and Serena, another plotline centers on Joyce’s determination to show Alex how to run the ER. Hearing complaints about the slow turnover rate in the ER, she points out that they are still doing well despite being understaffed.

However, in another misguided attempt to improve efficiency and raise morale, Joyce dismisses the concerns about staffing and decides to take matters into her own hands by joining the staff for the shift. She also sets an ambitious goal of discharging 50 patients, well above their average of 40, and throws herself into the work as Val and Alex watch on.

It soon becomes clear that Joyce has a better handle on things than the duo expected, as she efficiently attends to the patients while providing proper care. So the two nurses decide to get in her way by assigning her the toughest, most troublesome patients in St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6.

Even that doesn't seem to deter Joyce at first until the patient load starts getting to her. In addition, she hasn’t eaten, rested, or even had a drink of water the whole time. Despite all that, Joyce hits her target of 50 patients in a shift, discharging the last one in the final seconds of St. Denis Medical season 2 episode 6.

This leads Alex to hope that Joyce will see the hospital needs more nurses, but she remains steadfast, believing they just need the right attitude.
